Jaade alternatives
TL;DR
Jaade (jaade.app, "Just Another Agentic Development Environment") is a free macOS app for running Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor and Pi sessions in parallel. Terminals, files, diffs, history, scheduled jobs and workflows sit beside each session. It isn't Jade, a different product. The "1.3k downloads" you may have seen is its GitHub download total; the repo has 13 stars.
People look elsewhere because it's Mac only, it's closed source under an EULA (the public repo holds only releases and issues), and its docs say it drives agents through their SDKs rather than their own terminal UIs. It also packs in a lot, from a workspace wiki to Buddy, a background helper that's on by default and still marked experimental.
Pane trades Jaade's breadth for the agents' own terminals: Claude Code or Codex runs in its own terminal UI, as it does in your shell, in a worktree (its own copy of your repo, on its own branch). It's open source, has a lead-agent Session for splitting work, and runs on Windows, WSL (Linux inside Windows) and Linux as well as macOS.
the alternatives
All four are open source and leave the Mac-only limit behind. The chips show where each one runs: green is native, amber has a catch, red is no.
1.Pane
Best for each agent in its own real terminal and worktree, on every OS.
Terminals are real PTYs on xterm.js, so each agent's own interface, slash commands included, shows up as-is. Diffs land in a Changes panel, one shortcut each for commit, push and merge. Free, AGPL-3.0, no account.

2.Orca
Best for Jaade-sized feature lists, off the Mac.
If you'd miss having everything in one app, Orca packs in about 40 agents in real terminals, a browser, issue trackers, SSH hosts and an iOS app. MIT, on Mac, Windows, WSL and Linux.

3.Emdash
Best for scheduled automations and issue-tracker intake.
Its Automations run prompts on a cron schedule, the nearest match to Jaade's scheduled tasks, and it pulls work from 12 issue trackers. Apache-2.0. No WSL mode.

4.Paseo
Best for agents that hand work to each other, reachable from your phone.
For Jaade's orchestrator-led projects, Paseo lets agents delegate to each other, and you can check in from your phone or a browser. Apache-2.0, no account. In our October test its Windows app couldn't run agents in a WSL repo.

which one should you pick?
stay with jaade if
- → you're on a Mac and want a free, all-in-one workspace around Claude Code and Codex
- → you want searchable history that keeps every run's prompt, transcript, changed files and token totals
- → you'll use scheduled jobs, chained workflows with approvals, and an orchestrator for projects
- → you like a readable session view more than a raw terminal
pick pane if
- → you're on Windows or Linux, or your repos live inside WSL
- → you want an open-source app
- → you want each agent's own terminal UI, unchanged
- → you want a focused agent manager rather than a workspace with a wiki and a helper bot

why people look for a jaade alternative
Mac only, closed source, and agents driven through SDKs.
Jaade's docs say "The app currently ships for macOS", with builds for Apple Silicon and Intel. Its EULA grants use "free of charge" but says the software "is licensed, not sold"; the GitHub repo has no license and no source. The maker isn't named on the site.
The docs say agents "are driven through the official @anthropic-ai/claude-agent-sdk, the Codex app-server, the OpenCode SDK, and the Cursor SDK", so while the site says it "Runs your agents, unmodified", a session is Jaade's view of the agent rather than its own terminal UI. Real terminals sit beside it. Public bug reports are few: the tracker has two issues, both closed, including Enter sending the prompt while typing Chinese with an input method.
moving from jaade to pane
A Jaade session maps to a pane, Pane's word for one task with its own branch, and the agent now runs in its own terminal.
Open the folder you had as a Jaade workspace and start one pane per session you'd run. Claude Code and Codex have presets; save OpenCode and Pi as custom commands (Cursor is a preset on Mac, Linux and WSL, not native Windows yet). Each agent signs in the way it does in your terminal.
Jaade's project orchestrator has a counterpart in Pane's Sessions: describe the goal and the lead agent opens and steers panes for it. Its worktrees are plain git worktrees, and git worktree list shows them.
our verdict
Jaade is a generous free Mac app with a lot in one window: history, schedules, workflows and an orchestrator. If you want open source, each agent in its own terminal, or Windows, WSL and Linux, Pane is the most direct alternative. For an all-in-one with a phone app, Orca. For automations and issue trackers, Emdash. For agents that hand work to each other from your phone, Paseo.
