Pane Loops
Run your coding agents on a schedule
Set it once. Every night at 3, Claude picks a bug, fixes it on its own branch and opens a PR. You review it in the morning.

What it looks like in Pane
Set one up
- Click Loops in the sidebar, then New.
- Pick what runs: Claude, Codex, Cursor or a command. Add the first message it gets.
- Pick when: hourly, daily, every weekday, weekly, monthly or your own cron. Pane shows the next three runs before you save.
- Click Save. Each run opens its own Pane on a branch named
loop-<name>-YYYYMMDD-HHMM.
Or from the terminal. Your agents can run this too:
runpane loops create --repo active --name nightly-bug-sweep \
--cron "0 3 * * *" --agent claude \
--prompt "Pick one bug from yesterday's issues, fix it, and open a PR." --yesA new Pane each run, or one Session
| Project loop | Session loop | |
|---|---|---|
| Each run | Gets a new Pane, worktree and branch | Sends the prompt to one Session's agent |
| Runs | Claude, Codex, Cursor or a command | Claude, Codex or Cursor |
| Good for | A nightly bug sweep, a weekly docs audit, a Monday dependency check | A morning summary across all your projects |
Good to know
- Pane has to be running. Loops run on the machine running Pane. A run up to 15 minutes late still starts. Later than that, it's skipped, not caught up.
- At most once an hour. Times use that machine's time zone.
- Runs are unattended. Permission prompts are skipped, so write the prompt like you'd brief someone working alone.
- Pane keeps the last 10 runs. Older run Panes are archived unless they have work you haven't committed or pushed.
