Synara alternatives
TL;DR
Synara is a free, MIT-licensed desktop app with a polished chat view over Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, Pi and a few other agents, with a browser, terminal, diffs, pull requests and agent-to-agent tools, and no account. People look elsewhere because it only runs the agents on its list, shown as chat rather than their own terminal UI, so Gemini CLI, Aider, Goose, Amp and Copilot CLI are out; its unsigned Windows installer was quarantined by Microsoft Defender in our test; and it only reached 1.0 in October 2026, with one main maintainer. Pane is the closest alternative if you want any agent in its real terminal: every CLI agent in its own worktree, with review, git and an orchestrator, native on Windows and inside WSL. T3 Code and Conductor are the picks if you prefer a chat view.
the alternatives
Every tool here runs several coding agents at once. The chips show where each one runs: green is native, amber has a catch, red is no.
1.Pane
Best for any agent in its real terminal, on Windows and inside WSL.
Each agent runs in its own terminal UI and worktree, with a Changes panel, git shortcuts, a built-in browser and an orchestrator chat. Any CLI agent. Free, AGPL-3.0, no account.

2.T3 Code
Best for a fast chat view with phone apps.
MIT, with iOS and Android apps, usage tracking across providers and a commit-message writer. Young at version 0.1.x; its WSL backend crash-looped in our test.

3.Orca
Best for an open-source all-in-one with design mode.
MIT, 40 agents in real terminals or a chat view, a browser with design mode, stacked PRs and a phone app. Runs agents inside WSL. Heavy at about 1 GB installed.
WindowsWSLmacOSLinux
Best for the most polished chat and review loop, on a Mac.
A chat view over Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode with deep PR review, cloud workspaces and team plans. Mac-only, closed source, needs an account.

5.MonoCode
Best for a light chat GUI with a tab per agent.
MIT, runs Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok, OpenCode, Pi, omp and Hermes from their CLIs. Very early, and no WSL support.

why people look for a synara alternative
A fixed list of agents, shown as chat.
Synara drives agents through SDK, ACP and app-server integrations and renders them as chat, so you never see Claude Code's or Codex's own interface, and the provider list is fixed in code. Gemini CLI, Aider, Goose, Amp, Copilot CLI and Kiro aren't supported.
Its Windows builds are unsigned under an explicit exception, and Microsoft Defender quarantined the 0.9.2 installer the moment it downloaded on our machine, matching an open issue. Windows is x64 only, Linux is an x64 AppImage only, and there's no phone app. Worktrees are optional, with no setup scripts or env-file copying. It reached 1.0 on October 5, 2026 and ships near-daily releases, with one main maintainer.
moving from synara to pane
Your agents and logins carry over. Chat threads become real terminals.
Synara uses the agent CLIs you've already signed into, and so does Pane. Open your repository in Pane and create a pane per task: each gets its own worktree and branch by default, with your .env and agent config folders copied in and a block of ports in $PANE_PORT. Start Claude Code, Codex or Cursor with a click, or any other CLI agent as a custom command.
Review in the Changes panel and commit, push and merge with shortcuts. For agent-to-agent work, Pane's orchestrator, Sessions, starts and steers agents in other panes, and Pane ships an MCP server and the runpane CLI so agents can do it themselves. If your repo lives in WSL, Pane runs the agents, terminals and git inside the distro.
our verdict
Synara is a polished, free chat workspace with good review tools. If you want every agent, in its own terminal, with a worktree per task by default, Pane is the most direct alternative. If you'd rather stay with a chat view, T3 Code or, on a Mac, Conductor.
how we checked
On October 3, 2026 we downloaded Synara 0.9.2 on Windows 11, where Microsoft Defender quarantined the installer, and the 0.9.3 beta installer, which wasn't flagged; the rest comes from Synara's docs, release provenance files, issues and source. Pane, T3 Code and Orca ran on the same PC with WSL2 (Ubuntu 24.04). Conductor and MonoCode facts come from their docs and source.
Facts about each product come from its own docs, release notes, issue tracker and source code, checked on October 3 and 4, 2026.
- What we ran
- → Pane 2.4.155 on Windows 11, native and WSL2 (Ubuntu 24.04) repos
- → Synara 0.9.2 and 0.9.3-beta.1 installers downloaded and scanned on the same PC, October 3, 2026
- Who wrote this
- We make Pane, so we have a stake in this. We tried to be fair: Synara's strengths are listed as plainly as Pane's, every claim was checked against the product itself or its docs and source, and the screenshots are unedited captures from our own runs.
