Supacode alternatives
TL;DR
Supacode (supacode.sh, by Supabit, LLC) is a native Mac app built in Swift on libghostty, Ghostty's terminal engine. Each coding task gets its own git worktree and a real terminal for any CLI agent. A background process keeps your sessions alive when you quit.
Since October 11, 2026 it's paid after five free local worktrees: $99 for one Mac or $129 for two, one time. It runs only on macOS 26 Tahoe. Its license is source-available, the Functional Source License, so you can read the code but it isn't open source.
Pane is the free, open-source path: every agent in a real terminal on its own worktree, with no limit, on macOS 12 and up, Windows, WSL and Linux.
the alternatives
All four are free to use with your own agents. Chips: Windows, WSL, macOS, Linux.
1.Pane
Best for unlimited worktrees, free, on older Macs and every other OS.
A pane is one task: a real terminal on its own worktree and branch. Review and merge in the Changes panel, and run the host on another machine with Remote Pane. AGPL-3.0, no account, no license key.

2.Termio
Best for the nearest native Mac twin, free and on macOS 14.
Also Swift on libghostty, with worktrees from the sidebar, agent status and a session daemon. MIT and free. Mac only; Windows is on its roadmap.

3.Orca
Best for every OS plus SSH, if you'll trade native speed for features.
MIT, real terminals in worktrees, SSH servers, issue trackers and phone apps. An Electron app, heavy at about 1 GB installed.

4.Paradev
Best for a free Mac workspace that doesn't require macOS 26.
The renamed Superset, MIT since November 2026. Terminals, worktrees, a PR pane and a browser. It has GitHub and Google sign-ins.

which one should you pick?
stay with supacode if
- → you're on macOS 26 and want a native terminal per worktree
- → you work on remote SSH boxes, where worktrees stay free
- → you'd rather pay once than subscribe
- → you want sessions that survive quitting the app and dropped connections
pick pane if
- → you don't want to buy a license after five worktrees
- → you want a license the OSI recognizes as open source
- → you haven't moved to macOS 26, or you're on Windows or Linux
- → you want an orchestrator agent to run the others

why people look for a supacode alternative
macOS 26 only, source-available, and paid after five worktrees.
Supacode dropped macOS 15 in February 2026, and one user replied "I and many others refuse to install macOS 26". That same month it moved from GPL v3 to the Functional Source License. Then v0.11.0, titled "Licensing comes to Supacode", made it paid on October 11. Older reviews still call it free and open source.
A crash on closing a tab or removing a repo drew reports from 0.11.2 to 0.11.5. One user said asking for money "with this kind of basic issue completely unaddressed fully drove me away". A teardown crash fix shipped in v0.11.6. Separately, an October thread asked whether the app was in maintenance mode.
moving from supacode to pane
Your worktrees are plain git worktrees. Each one can become a pane.
Each Supacode worktree maps to a pane on its own branch. The libghostty terminal maps to Pane's terminal, and the PR state in the sidebar maps to the Changes panel. SSH repositories map to Remote Pane, where you run Pane's host on that server.
Your old worktrees stay on disk, so keep or remove them with git.
our verdict
On macOS 26, Supacode is a native, terminal-first worktree manager worth a one-time license. If you want it free and open source, or you're on another OS or an older macOS, use Pane. Termio is the closest native Mac match, Orca the broadest, and Paradev the free Mac workspace.
how we checked
Desk research on November 5, 2026. We read Supacode's homepage, pricing and license FAQ, README, license history, release notes and issue tracker. We didn't install it.
Termio and Paradev were researched the same day for their own pages. Orca facts come from our October 3 and 4, 2026 research, including a hands-on Windows install.
